NCAA names women's basketball committee head

Duke associate athletic director Jacki Silar has been chosen chairwoman of the NCAA Division I women's basketball committee for 2008-09.
She succeeds LSU senior associate athletic director Judy Southard, who chaired the committee the past two years.
Silar was Duke's field hockey coach for 15 years and women's assistant basketball coach for 12 seasons.
