Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) on
Thursday reported a better-than-expected 3.9 percent rise in
sales at U.S. stores open at least a year in May.
Analysts, on average, were expecting the company's
same-store sales to rise 1.6 percent, according to Thomson
Reuters data, while the company had forecast U.S. same-store
sales would be flat to up 2 percent.
The world's biggest retailer said net sales in the month
ended May 30 rose 9.8 percent to $31.04 billion.
